7 Days of Election Week: Is Your Vote Really Your Voice?

If you care about this election, voting should be a no-brainer

Welcome to election week, people. We’ve finally made it to the final stretch. By this time next week, we’ll have some preliminary data as ballots begin getting counted.

I plan to vote on November 5, but I’ve also taken to writing, because that’s a voice, too. It’s unlikely at this juncture that I could change anyone’s mind, but I believe galvanizing people is just as important as swaying them. I also believe that change not only comes from the ballot box, but from continuous dialogue.

For all 7 days leading up to the election, my goal is to write a new piece with a different election-related theme. The hope is to get people talking and get us reflecting with one another. Even better would be to inspire someone to vote, but I won’t pretend to believe I have that much power. This is simply part of a bigger effort.

So in light of that, let’s talk today about what it means to vote, and if your vote is really your voice.
