I could see how you might think these things, and maybe I was behind not knowing about this in recent years (unlike me as a true crime junkie, but still). I’m not talking about recent years though; I’m talking about how long this case lacked legitimate public outreach in the 2000s and early 2010s.

Now it’s obviously made news and been the topic of articles since about 2015, when the FBI joined the investigation. But previously, there were some issues, most specifically the fact that they didn’t even claim the crimes were related to a serial killer until 2011. I’m speaking about that time period and what happened before it became more known.

Still, despite it making the news now and being more well-known, it hasn’t gained nearly as much publicity as other crimes I mentioned. Regardless of whether I knew about it or not, I think it’s still glaringly obvious that this case hasn’t been as legitimized by LE and media compared to other cases.

The fact that there are tens and even hundreds of other crimes that reflect the same issue confirms that this is a real problem.
