I LOVE this article. You said it perfectly. Society really just hates fat bodies, and will go to any lengths to justify that. I follow Lizzo on social media and am a huge fan, and she has never “promoted” obesity. She posts photos of herself happy and talks about accepting her body and being self-confident, yes. But nowhere is she saying “I promote obesity” or “Get fat!”. If these fatphobic people are assigning an obesity-promoting narrative to her, that’s their problem. Because at the core, they are the ones who are mistakenly equating fat = bad, and becoming triggered by fat people literally just existing in their bodies and being happy (as any thin person can do without backlash).

Agh. This continues to wear at me daily and I think fatphobia is one of the most ignored types of bias in this world. I am so ready for things to change.
