This was such an outstanding and interesting article. As a user of hormonal birth control myself, I’ve always known that the placebo week was a withdrawal period and, in most cases, unnecessary. But I guess I always attributed its existence to a poor understanding of women’s bodies/healthcare and a desire to just do the easiest thing and mimic natural cycles. I had no idea of the complex religious history that comes into play here. Thank you for educating me!
